I want to post this piece to to the Writer's Club Critique Board. Here's brief description of the article:
In the last three weeks of May, the town of Juchitan, Mexico celebrates a festival in honor of its patron saint, San Vicente. The festival is organized and run by the women of Juchitan who, according to some, hold sway in a matriarchal society. This light-hearted piece describes my encounter with a young woman from Juchitan who attends the festival with me in May of 1997. I plan to submit this piece to salon.com, and welcome any critical response you might provide.
